I am a brand new to yoga, where do I start?
We have a variety of beginners classes at Studio One. Our SO Basics class will give you a relaxed introduction you to all the foundation poses with an emphasis on technique, terminology and alignment.
We also have a lot of people just throw themselves straight into a SO Flow class from the get go. We only recommend this if you have either practiced yoga at least a couple of times before or are of a reasonable level of fitness.
Additionally, if you're looking for something more relaxing you could try our SO Chill class.
Our suggestion to beginners is to try a few different classes and teachers over the first few weeks to find the ones that suit your needs.
Do I need a mat and what should I wear?
Good quality yoga mats and equipment is provided free of charge, however if you have your own mat that you prefer to practice on then please feel free to bring it.
We suggest wearing something you're comfortable stretching in or something you would similarly wear to the gym/exercise class. Leggings, shorts, tee shirt are all fine. Yoga is done barefoot and our studio is a shoe free zone.
I've just found out that I'm pregnant, can I start yoga?
Firstly, congratulations! If you've never practised yoga before we can only advise that you start in one of our pregnancy classes/courses. The start dates for these vary and can be found on the online schedule.
It is not advisable to start something new during pregnancy, however if you already have a regular yoga practice you are welcome to continue in your usual class providing you let the teacher know beforehand so he/she can provide modifications to certain poses.
I'm on call, can I keep my phone next to my mat?
We operate a strict policy of no mobile phones or devices in the studio practice space. Your yoga class is a time to switch off from the outside world and focus on you without any distractions. If you need to be contacted in an emergency then please speak to a member of our reception team who will be happy to help.
